DESCRIPTION:Event canceled due to wet weather and wet grounds.\n  \nWelcome to the start of another exciting beekeeping season! We hope you and your bees have made it through the winter and are looking forward to the warmer months ahead. \nOur first Field Day of the season will be held on Saturday\, 1 August\, and we’re hoping for a beautiful sunny day. START TIME 10.30 due to the cold weather in the mornings. \nThis first Field Day is an opportunity for members to get together\, catch up after winter\, and plan their approach to getting the best from their hives for the season ahead. \nAs we come out of winter\, many beekeepers open their hives with questions: \n\nWhy has my colony weakened?\nWhy have my bees disappeared?\nWhy didn’t my hive survive the winter?\n\nThese are common concerns\, and we’ll be discussing the most likely causes and what you can do to give your colonies the best start to spring. \nTopics we’ll cover include: \n\nWaking up your bees after winter\nStimulating hive growth by adjusting sugar-to-water feeding ratios\nWhat to look for when you first open your hives\nFeeding and nutrition\nVarroa treatments\nHive positioning\nRequeening and assessing queen performance\n\nWhether you’re a new beekeeper or have years of experience\, this is a great opportunity to ask questions\, share experiences\, and learn from fellow members. \nWe look forward to seeing you there and kicking off another great beekeeping season together! \n
